Kim Davis-Fundraising
Kim Davis is serving on SCT’s Board of Directors as secretary. She appreciates what the organization is doing for the children in our community, and since her own kids are currently away at school, spends her time between her real estate career and volunteer efforts. Besides helping out with Sonora Children’s Theater she is the secretary for the Sonora 49er Rotary Club and is the Advisor for the Sonora High School Interact Club.

Kyla Meyer - Artistic Director
Kyla Meyer received her BA in Theatre Arts from Sonoma State in 2003 and her AA in Music from Columbia College in 2009. While at SSU she worked in the Person Theatre as a set-builder, lighting operator and costumer, as well as in the Center for Performing Arts as an assistant. Her theatre focus was in musical theatre performance, production, directing and working with children. Kyla also performed in Krank: a Kurt Weill review, Candide, The Magic Flute, Quantum Opera Scenes, Freedom Project, numerous choirs and musical theatre workshops.
Prior to SSU, Kyla was in Anaheim performing with the Young Americans, a well-known Youth Performing Arts Outreach group that tours internationally. As an alumni of Sonora High, Kyla returned to Tuolumne County to spread her love of the arts to the youth in her hometown, starting Meyer Hideout, Inc. Youth Musical Theatre in 2004 - with the help of John Williams and Bob's Greenley Pharmacy.
Most recently, Kyla was seen as Hucklebee at Murphy’s Black Bart’s production of The Fantasticks. The Columbia College Community Chorus is her current outlet for singing in Tuolumne County.
Her arts teaching experience ranges from teaching music to the K—5 at Black Oak Elementary School to musical theatre and choir after school and in-class music to 3—5 graders at Sonora Elementary School. For two years she ran the Community Children’s Chorus through Central Sierra Arts Council.
Kyla created the structure of Meyer Hideout, Inc. from the ground up and keeps it smoothly running from day today. Her dream for Hideout became one with SCT when both groups realized they had the same goals: offering year-round classes ranging from music theory to improvisation and production. Future goals flow around a permanent theatre and offering overnight programs.
Sonora Children's Theatre Mission Statement: We are committed to offering a high standard of theatre instruction and providing a source for all children to experience performing in front of a live audience.
